The Commerce Ministry has recommended the National Board of Revenue reduce duties on the import of edible oil, sugar and date ahead of Ramadan.
A letter regarding this was sent to NBR on Monday following a joint meeting of five ministries at the Commerce Ministry on Sunday.
Sources in NBR said it received a letter from the Commerce Ministry on cutting duties and it will hold a meeting in this regard on Thursday.
The ministry's information and public relations officer Md Haider Ali told Jago News a letter was sent to NBR recommending a decrease in duties on edible oil, sugar and date import ahead of Ramadan but it will decide how much the duty rate will be reduced.
