The High Court (HC) on Sunday issued a rule, asking authorities concerned to explain as to why it shall not pass an order to give one Md Eusuf Mazumder Shakil, who allegedly lost both his kidneys as a result of wrong treatment at Labaid Specialized Hospital, Tk 1 crore in compensation.
The bench of Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Khizir Hayat passed the order after holding a primary hearing on a writ petition filed in this regard.
The court also ordered the Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to probe the matter within two months, the petitioner's lawyer Advocate Eklas Uddin Bhuiyan told BSS.
"The victim filed the writ against Professor Dr HR Harun of the hospital. The petitioners alleged that only because of the wrong treatment of the doctor at the hospital, both the kidneys of the victim have been damaged completely and now he has to go for kidney transplant for sure to live," Advocate Bhuiyan added.
