The most effective and modern commuter for city dwellers 'Dhaka Metro rail' will operate on the Uttara-Motijheel route from morning to night from January 20 (Saturday).
"The metro rail will operate on the Uttara-Motijheel route from 7:10 am to 8:40 pm," according to Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) official notification issued on Thursday.
Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd MAN Siddique said that the first train will leave Uttara for Motijheel at 7:10 am and will continue until 8:30 pm, while the last train will leave Motijheel at 8:40 pm.
Now the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Line-6 is being operated from 7:30 am to 11:30 am on the Uttara-Motijheel section, while it is being run from 7:10 am to 8:00 pm on the Uttara-Agargaon section, the notification said.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the second phase of the much-desired metro rail service from Agargaon to Motijheel on November 4, 2023.
However, Dhaka University and Bijoy Sarani stations were opened on December 13 and Shahbagh and Karwan Bazar stations were opened on December 31.
Bangladesh entered a new era on December 28, 2022 as the Prime Minister inaugurated the country's first-ever elevated metro rail from Uttara to Agargaon.
