Ferry capsizes after being hit by bulkhead at Paturia

A ferry named Rajanigandha carrying nine trucks capsized after being hit by a bulkhead on the Dhaka-Paturia route in the Padma River at the Paturia ferry terminal in Manikganj on Wednesday morning.  

No casualty was reported. 

The incident took place near the terminal number-5 around 8:15am.

The ferry was stranded in the middle of Padma due to dense fog.

Assistant Manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation’s (BIWTC’s) Patuaria regional office Abdus Salam confirmed the matter to Jago News.

Meanwhile, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement said the members of Bangladesh Navy joined the rescue operation.
