BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been granted bail in nine separate cases filed with the capital Dhaka's Ramna, and Paltan Police Stations.
The court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Shohag Uddin granted him bail on a Tk 10,000 bond on Wednesday after a hearing.
Earlier on Tuesday, the same court accepted a petition to show Mirza Fakhrul arrested in the nine cases and set Wednesday for a hearing on his bail.
The BNP secretary general will not get released from jail now as he did not get bail yet in two sabotage cases filed with Ramna, and Paltan Police Stations.
Eleven cases were filed against Mirza Fakhrul - eight with Paltan, and three with Ramna Police Stations - over the clashes between police and BNP men and alleged attacks on different establishments, including the residence of the chief justice at Kakrail in the capital, around BNP's October 28 grand rally at Nayapaltan.
