New cabinet to be sworn in on Thursday

The members of new cabinet will be sworn in at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban on Thursday evening.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin will administer the oath to the prime minister and her cabinet colleagues at 7pm. 

Cabinet Division Secretary will moderate the oath taking ceremony.

The concerned sources confirmed the matter to Jago News on Tuesday.

However, the newly-elected lawmakers to the parliament will be sworn in at the oath-taking room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 10am on Wednesday. Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Choudhury will administer the oath.

The Election Commission on Monday announced the unofficial results of voting in 298 of the country’s 300 constituencies. 

Awami League (AL)-backed candidates won 222 seats while independent candidates won 62 seats. Jatiya Party candidates were victorious in 11 seats and three single candidates each from three parties -- Bangladesh Workers’ Party, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal and Bangladesh Kalyan Party -- secured victory in their respective constituencies.
