Claiming that people unilaterally turned down the January 7 election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Monday demanded a fresh election under a neutral government.
To mobilise public support for their demand, the party also announced a two-day mass contact programme on Tuesday and Wednesday.
BNP Standing Committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan made the announcement at a press conference at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office,
The party’s Standing Committee members Nazrul Islam Khan and Selima Rahman were, among others, during this time.
“The country’s people unilaterally and spontaneously rejected Sunday’s election. On behalf of 63 parties, who called for boycotting the polls, we congratulate the people of the country for turning down the election,” said Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan.
