Seven cocktails exploded in Dhaka University area in an hour on Saturday ahead of the 12th general election to be held on Sunday.
The incidents occurred in Chankharpul, Curzon Hall and Nilkhet Police Outpost areas between 7 pm and 8 pm, DU administration, law enforcers and detectives sources said.
Dhaka University administration said security was beefed up in all entrances of the campus following a total of 12 cocktails exploded in DU areas in five phases in the last 24 hours.
Being informed, Shahbagh Police Station officer in-charge along with force visited the spots, the sources said.
DU Proctor Professor Dr Maksudur Rahman told Jago News explosions of some cocktails happened outside the university.
A few people involved in an incident in the university area were identified and some of them were arrested, he added.
