BNP’s 48-hour hartal underway

A 48-hour hartal enforced by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is underway as part of their movement to boycott the January 7 election.

The hartal started at 6am on Saturday and will continue till at 6am on Monday.

The vehicular movement is thin in different roads of the capital.

Earlier on Friday night, four passengers were killed and four others suffered burn injuries as the miscreants set the Benapole Express train on fire at Gopibagh area of Sayedabad in Dhaka on the eve of the hartal.

On Thursday, BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the 48-hour hartal in a virtual press briefing.
