Metro rail’s Shahbagh, Karwan Bazar stations open

The Shahbagh and Karwan Bazar stations of the country’s first-ever metro rail service were opened to commuters on Sunday morning.

The stations’ doors were opened for passengers from 7:30am. 

On November 4, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the second phase of the metro rail’s Agargaon to Motijheel part with stopover in three stations-Farmgate, Bangladesh Secretariat and Motijheel.

Dhaka University and Bijoy Sarani stations went into operation from December 13.

Country’s first metro rail service was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on December 28, 2022 and went for commercial operation on the next day.

Currently, the metro rail service on Uttara to Agargaon section is available from 8:30am to 8:30pm and from 7:30am to 12pm on Uttara-Motijheel route.
