Three Bangladeshi youths were shot by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Hatibandha border in Lalmonirhat early Saturday.
The injured are Rony Mia, 21, a resident of Daikhawa Azim Bazar area, Shree Sujan, 21, and Hakim Mia, 35, of Genduguri area in Hatibanadha upazila.
The incident took place near 901 no. pillar adjacent to Daikhawa BOP camp in the upazila.
Lance Naik Md Bashir Ullah of Daikhawa BOP camp of Border Guard Bangladesh said a petrol team of BSF opened fire on a group of smugglers when they were bringing cows from India through barbed wire fence, leaving three Bangladeshi ones injured.
Of the injured, two are receiving treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital, he said.
In this regard, Gotamari union parishad chairman Monaberul Haque Mona said he heard three youths were shot when they were bringing cows from India through the border.
Lieutenant Colonel Mofazzal Hossain Akand, captain of the 15 BGB Battalion, Lalmonirhat said he was informed that three Bangladeshi cow traders were shot by BSF at the border.
