HC rejects writ challenging legality of polls schedule

The High Court on Monday summarily rejected a writ petition that was filed challenging the legality of the 12th parliamentary election schedule.

An HC bench of Justice Mostofa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Ataullah passed the order. 

Earlier on November 29, Md Eunus Ali Akond, a Supreme Court lawyer, filed the writ petition.

The lawyer on November 28 also sent a legal notice to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and others, demanding the postponement of the parliamentary election.

It is mentionable that, the CEC announced the schedule for the 12th parliamentary election on November 15. As per the schedule the voting will take place on January 7 in 2024.
