A dawn-to-dusk hartal enforced by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its like-minded parties is going on across the country on Thursday demanding polls under a non-party interim government.
The hartal started at 6am and will continue till 6pm.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General of the party, on Monday afternoon announced the programme at a virtual press briefing.
Vehicles of the newspapers or media, ambulances, and vehicles transporting oxygen cylinders and medicines will remain out of the purview of the hartal, the BNP leader said.
Earlier, BNP observed a 24-hour countrywide blockade across the country from 6am on Wednesday to 6am on Thursday.
