The resignation letters of three advisers of Prime Minister, two technocrat ministers and one state minister have been accepted, a concerned source said on Wednesday.
Science and Technology Minister Yeafesh Osman, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar and State Minister for Planning Shamsul Alam submitted their resignation letters to the Cabinet Secretary on November 19 four days after the Chief Election Commissioner announced the national election schedule.
Mashiur Rahman, the prime minister’s economic affairs adviser, Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, power, energy and mineral resources adviser, and International Affairs Adviser Gowher Rizvi also submitted their resignation letters on the day.
Shamsul Alam, who resigned from the post of Minister of State, on Wednesday morning said President Mohammed Shahabuddin accepted his resignation and it will come into effect from today.
Earlier on November 15, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal announced the national election schedule.
According to the election schedule, the voting to the 12th parliamentary election will be held on 7 January next year.
