Five people, including four members of a family, were killed and several others injured as a truck crashed into a roadside shop in Rajshahi on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Insab Ali, 75, a resident of Kantapur village in Gurudaspur upazila, his son Ayub Ali Labu, 35, daughter Parvin Begum and grandaughter Sharmin and Mokhlesur Rahman, a resident of Makampur village in the same upazila.
The incident took place in Belpukur area on the Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police's spokesperson Zamirul Islam said a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and then, crashed into a roadside shop after its driver lost control over steering, leaving four dead on the spot and several injured.
Among the injured, one was declared dead at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, he said.
