Three workers were killed when a lorry hit them on Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Wireless BSIC area in Mirsharai of Chattogram on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as Masud Miah, 35, son of Humayun Kabir of Andidil area at Ashuganj upazila in Brahmanbaria, Md Alamgir Hossain, 45, son of Abul Kalam of Soukhetu Para at Sujanagar upazila in Pabna and Md Shafiqul Islam, 42, son of Malek Bepary of Raipur area in the same upazila.
They all were the workers of Karnaphuli gas line.
According to the eyewitnesses, a Chattogram-bound lorry hit the workers around 7:30am when they were going to their workplace on foot. At that time, two died on the spot and another was injured critically. Later, the injured were taken to Mirsharai Upazila Health Complex where he declared dead.
Sohel Sarker, In-charge of Jorarganj Highway Police Station, said the lorry was seized but its driver managed to flee the scene. The bodies were kept at the police station.
