Former Jubo Dal President Nirob jailed for 2.5 years

A Dhaka court has sentenced former Jubo Dal President Saiful Alam Nirob and six others to two-and-a-half years in jail in a sabotage case filed with Tejgaon Police Station in the capital.  

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sheikh Sadi passed the order on Monday. 

The court fined them Tk 2,000 each, in default, they have to serve seven more months in jail.

The other accused in the case are Sajedul Islam Sumon, Gandu Shahin, Bellal Hossain, Jakir Hossain, Anwaruzzaman Anwar and Abu Bakkar Siddik.

As they are absconding, the court issued arrest warrants against them.

In May of 2013, police filed the case against them bringing allegation of sabotage during a hartal and blockade programme called by BNP.
