Bogura couple injured in cylinder blast dies

A man and his wife, who were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in Bogura, died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Dhaka on Sunday.

The deceased were Rakibul Hasan, 35, son of Abdul Wahed Master, a resident of Fultala village under Shahbandegi union in Sherpur upazila and his wife Mim Khatun, 26.

They passed away this afternoon, Shahbandegi union parishad chairman Quazi Abul Kalam Azad confirmed.

Locals and police sources said an explosion occurred when Mim pressed the switch of gas stove in their house on Tuesday (November 14), leaving her injured.

Rakibul also received burn injuries when he tried to save Mim.

Locals rescued them and took them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

They were, later, referred to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Dhaka as their condition deteriorated.

Sherpur Police Station sub-inspector Rabiul Islam said an unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
