BNP leader hacked to death in Naogaon

Unidentified miscreants hacked a local Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader to death at Yad Ali intersection area in Naogaon municipality on Saturday night. 

The deceased, Kamal Ahmed, 52, was a member of convening committee of Naogaon municipality’s ward-9 unit of BNP.

According to the police, Kamal’s family and locals, he was returning home from Santahar railway station in an auto-rickshaw around 9pm. When Kamal reached Yad Ali intersection, three motorcycles blocked the auto-rickshaw. 

Six to seven people wearing helmets and masks forcibly took Kamal Ahmed out of the auto-rickshaw, stabbed him with sharp weapons, and quickly fled. 

Later, locals rushed to the spot and took him to Naogaon Sadar Hospital where physicians declared him dead.

Md Kamal Hossain, a doctor of the hospital, said Kamal died before being brought to the hospital. There were several marks of injuries made by sharp weapons on the back, neck and body of the victim. He died due to excessive bleeding.

Faisal Ahmed, Officer-in-charge of Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station, said there were marks of injuries made by sharp weapons on the back and neck of the victim. The body was sent to the morgue for autopsy. 

A case is in process to be filed in this regard, the OC added.
