Moudud to lose Gulshan’s home

Moudud Ahmed, a senior leader of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will have to leave his Gulshan residence where he was staying using the name of his brother Monzur Ahmed.The Supreme Court (SC) has accepted the RAJUK’s appeal in the case filed over Gulshan house of Modudud. The Appellate Division bench headed by the Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha accepted the appeal on Tuesday morning.In this connection, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told after the ruling that, now, housing authority Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) can take steps to take possession of the land.However, said that he will file a review petition with the SC against its verdict. The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case with Gulshan Police Station on December 17, 2013 against Moudud and his brother Monzur on charges of grabbing government land worth over Tk 300 crore in Gulshan.On September 14 last year, Judge Md Jahurul Haque of the Senior Special Judge’s Court of Dhaka took cognizance of the charges in Moudud’s presence.
