A total of 229 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across the country on the second day of the 48-hour countrywide blockade called by the BNP and other opposition parties.
Md Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer of the BGB, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Thursday morning.
He said a total of 229 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the country to maintain the law and order situation. Among them, 32 platoons have been deployed in Dhaka and its adjoining areas.
Earlier on Wednesday, a total of 181 platoons of BGB were deployed across the country including Dhaka. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal announced the schedule for the 12th parliamentary election at 7pm on Wednesday. The law enforcing agencies strengthened security across the country including Dhaka following the announcement of the election schedule.
