Commuter train set on fire in Tangail

Miscreants set a commuter train on fire at the railway station in Tangail around 3am on Thursday.  

Mohammad Idris, Senior Station Officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said being informed they rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Two compartments near the train engine were damaged in the fire.

The train stationed on the Dhaka-bound line at the station had no passengers on board, he said.

Sub Inspector Farid, who was on duty at the station, said miscreants set the train on fire around 3am. Later, the firefighting members brought the fire under control.

However, a bus, a pickup van and a rail track were set on fire in different parts of Gazipur on Wednesday night.
