A total of 152 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across the country on the first day of the 48-hour countrywide blockade called by the BNP and other opposition parties.
Md Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer of the BGB, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Sunday morning.
He said a total of 152 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the country to maintain the law and order situation. Apart from, adequate BGB members are on standby.
However, a total of seven buses were set on fire by the miscreants in different parts of the capital Dhaka from 8pm on Saturday to 6am on Sunday. The miscreants also set two more buses on fire in Gazipur and Barishal during this period.
Earlier on Thursday, the BNP announced the 48-hour countrywide blockade to press home their one-point demand to hold the next election under a neutral government.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and other political parties and alliances followed BNP to announce that they would also hold the blockade programme simultaneously.
