Jagannath University (JnU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Imdadul Haque passed away early Saturday.
He had been suffering from cancer and breathed his last around 5am while undergoing treatment at BRB Hospital in the capital Dhaka.
Professor Dr Milton Biswas, Chairman of Bangla Department of the university, confirmed the death to Jago News.
Source said Prof Imdadul was earlier taken to Singapore for better treatment on October 12. He recently returned to Dhaka and was undergoing treatment at BRB Hospital.
He was appointed as JnU VC on June 1, 2021.
Prior to that, he was a professor at botany department of University of Dhaka. He was also an elected dean at the faculty of Biological Sciences of the university from December 12, 2012 to June 1, 2021.
