48 BGB platoons deployed in Dhaka, adjoining districts

Forty-eight platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in Dhaka and adjoining districts to ensure security at the garment factories as the 48-hour countrywide blockade called by the BNP, Jamaat and likeminded opposition parties began on Wednesday morning.

Md Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer of the BGB, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

He said forty-eight platoons of BGB have been deployed in Dhaka and adjoining districts to beef up security at the garment factories. Apart from, the adequate number of police personnel are deployed across the country to maintain law and order situation.

BNP Senior Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Monday announced the another 48-hour blockade programme to press home their one-point demand and protest the police action on its October 28 rally.

Earlier, BNP also observed blockade across the country for five days in two phases. The second phase blockade ended on Monday.
