Saudi, lubricant brand of the country's leading business group RFL, organized rallies across the country on Sunday to create awareness with a view to preventing road accidents.
The rally was organized in 22 places across the country including Dhaka, Gazipur, Chattogram, Cumilla, Pabna, Narayanganj, Rahshahi, Barishal, Khulna, Mymensingh, Cox’s Bazar, as part of its 'Safe Highways' campaign to prevent road accidents. Common people, vehicle drivers, helpers, and others concerned took part in the rallies.
Kazi Rashedul Islam, Executive Director of Saudi Lubricants, said, “Seven thousand people, on average, die in road accidents every year in the country. Moreover, about 12,000 people are injured in road accidents and lead a miserable life. The number of casualties in road accidents are increasing every year. Under the circumstances, Saudi lubricants organized awareness programs including rallies to create awareness among the stakeholders about road accidents. It is possible to reduce the number of accidents especially on highways if the people are aware of it.”
Juhirul Islam Shimul, Head of Marketing at Saudi Lubricants, said "As part of our initiatives, we have identified the accident-prone areas on the highway. Now, we are pinning the accident-prone places on Google Maps with the help of Facebook based group BikeBD Community. We are also marking the various accident-prone places in the country with the permission of the Department of Roads and Highways so that the drivers cross the place very carefully.”-Press Release
