Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal on Saturday underscored the need for maintaining impartiality while discharging duty as field-level officials during the upcoming national election.
"The field-level officials should discharge their duties with impartiality as well as utmost sincerity during the upcoming parliamentary election," he said at a program on election management as the chief guest in Dhaka.
He called upon all local officials to act responsibly as they will represent the government in polls.
Noting that organizing elections is a challenging task, he advised the officials concerned to be dedicated during the polling time so that the election gains acceptance among the people.
It is essential to demonstrate to the people that the election has been conducted fairly, he said, adding that if franchising the voting rights of the voters is ensured, the polls will be successful, he hoped.
About the role of law enforcement agencies, CEC Awal said it is their responsibility to maintain communal harmony before and after polls.
Pointing to the officials, Election Commissioner Ahsan Habib Khan asked all to avoid past criticisms as success could be attained through learning from the past.
He urged all to play collective roles to set an example of conducting a free and fair election for future generations.
Describing the field-level officials as the loyal assistants of the Election Commission, he asked them to cooperate sincerely with the returning officers during the polling time to make the Election Commission proud.
