A court in Chandpur has sentenced five people to life-term imprisonment for the murder of a man.
The lifers are Mostafa, 25, Milon Hossain, 23, Bilkis Begum, 40, Ripon, 24, and Saddam Hossain, 27, residents of Razapur village in Faridganj upazila.
Chandpur Senior District and Sessions Judge Md Mohsinul Haque delivered the verdict on Sunday.
The court also fined Tk 10,000 each and in default, they will have to serve three months more in prison.
The case statement said Bilkis Begum would engage in illicit acts bringing outsiders to her house. Neighbors and relatives asked her to refrain from these but she continued.
On March 8, 2013, she and other accused beat up victim Mobarak Hossain, 60, and his wife Nilufa Begum mercilessly as he asked her to refrain from the acts, leaving them seriously injured.
Mobarak succumbed to her injuries on April 3 of the same year.
Later, his son Md Zillur Rahman filed a case with Faridganj Police Station in this connection.
