Dr Yunus appears at ACC

Grameen Telecom Chairman and Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus has appeared at the headquarters of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in the capital’s Segunbagicha after being summoned by it in a case filed against him and 12 others for allegedly embezzling and laundering Tk 25.22 crore from the company.

He went there at 9:37am on Thursday. 

Later, ACC Deputy Director and investigation officer of the case Gulshan Anwar Pradhan interrogated him. 

Earlier on September 27, the ACC summoned Dr Yunus and 12 others to appear before it to face questioning in the case.

On May 30, Gulshan Anwar filed the case against them with ACC’s Integrated District Office-1 in Dhaka.

The other accused in the case are- Grameen Telecom Managing Director Nazmul Islam, directors Ashraful Hasan, Naznin Sultana, Parvin Mahmud, Md Shahjahan, Nurjahan Begum and SM Huzzatul Islam Latifee, Sramik-Karmachari Union President Md Kamruzzaman and General Secretary Firoz Mahmud Hasan, lawyers Zafrul Hasan Sharif and Yusuf Ali and representative Md Mainul Islam.
