After a long wait, ferry services will launch on the Chilmari-Rowmari route in the Brahmaputra River in Kurigram on Wednesday.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain will open the services.
Mahfuzul Alam Sajal, deputy director of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), confirmed this to Jago News.
A ferry named Kunjalata was already attached to the Chilmari River terminal from Aricha ghat on Friday evening.
The only communication way for the residents of Rowmari and Rajibpur upazilas is by boat to go to the district town through the Brahmaputra River.
With the ferry services launching, their long-suffering may end and it will add a new dimension to the development of the poverty-hit district.
