Jamalpur deputy commissioner Md Imran, who drew controversy by seeking vote for 'boat' in the next general elections, has been transferred to the Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry.
The ministry issued a notification on Thursday appointing him as its deputy secretary.
Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy deputy director Md Shafiur Rahman was, however, appointed as the new DC of Jamalpur.
Earlier, DC Imran in a program on Monday upheld different development works of Awami League-led government and sought vote for the party in the next general elections.
On the following day, a video of his speech went viral in social media in which he was heard saying, "The government made this development, the government must be elected again to continue the upliftment trend."
On Wednesday, the Election Commission wrote to the Cabinet secretary to take action against Imran over the incident.
