336 sued in Gaibandha over BNP-police clash

A case has been filed against around 336 people in Gaibandha over a clash between BNP men and police.

Sadar Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Md Zakaria filed the case with the police station against 36 named and 250-300 unknown people on Saturday afternoon.

Sadar Police Station officer in-charge Md Masud Rana confirmed the matter to Jago News on Saturday night.

Three people, who had been detained during the incident, were shown arrested in the lawsuit and sent to jail, OC Masud added.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, BNP leaders and activists brought out a procession from the district office on the occasion of the party's 45th founding anniversary.

Police obstructed the procession when it was approaching DB Road after crossing Shaheed Minar.

When the procession was advancing defying police obstruction, a chase and counter chase occurred between BNP men and the cops.

Police charged baton, and lobbed rubber bullets and tear shells at BNP men to bring the situation under control that left 25 leaders and activists of the party.
