A court in Munshiganj has sentenced a man to death for killing a schoolgirl after rape in Sreenagar upazila in 2018.
Condemned convict Khokan is a resident of Paushar area in Sirajdikhan upazila.
Munshiganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Faizunnesa pronounced the verdict on Thursday, Court Police's in-charge Jamal Hossain confirmed.
The court also sentenced him to seven years in jail and fined him Tk 10,000.
The case statement said the body of victim Laila Akter Limu, 17, was recovered from the bank of Isamati River adjacent to Chan Market at local Baraikhali Bazar on August 30 of 2018, two days after she had gone missing.
The victim's father Abdul Matin filed a case against Khokan with Sreenagar Police Station in this connection.
