Trial of sabotage case against Jamaat ameer, secy gen begins

A Dhaka court on Wednesday framed charges against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar and 95 others in a sabotage case.

The trial has begun after the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam framed charges against them in the case.

The court fixed September 17 for recording testimonies.

According to the case statement, 200-300 Jamaat-Shibir men vandalised several vehicles and torched two motorbikes in Motijheel area on November 5, 2012 demanding to release their top leaders.

Sub Inspector Mizanur Rahman Sumon filed the case with Motijheel Police Station under Sabotage Act over the incident.

The investigation officer of the case and Sub Inspector Awal Hossain submitted a charge sheet against 97 people to the court. Of the accused, one Abdur Jobbar died during the case proceedings.
