BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam has said the contribution of the party's founder Ziaur Rahman cannot be erased from history by lying.
Terming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's statement 'Ziaur Rahman was involved in August 15, 1975 killings' a lie, Mirza Fakhrul said this is being said only to distort history and divert people's attention from BNP's ongoing one-point movement to oust the government.
He made the remarks in a program at Gulshan in Dhaka on Friday morning on the occasion of Ziaur Rahman's 42nd death anniversary.
"Those who today say Ziaur Rahman was involved in the August 15 killings, their only objective is to undermine him and erase his (contribution) from history but it's not possible," Mirza Fakhrul said.
