Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said anti-liberation forces, led by BNP, are still hatching conspiracy against the country.
"They (anti-liberation forces) want to hit the country's independence so everyone should remain alter against them," he told reporters after paying tributes to Bangabandhu's portrait kept in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban in Dhaka's Dhanmondi this morning, marking Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's 48th Martyrdom Anniversary and National Mourning Day.
Quader said Bangladesh would have become a developed and prosperous country if Bangabandhu had not been killed.
"The anti-liberation and anti-democracy forces are common enemies of the pro-liberation forces," he said.
The AL general secretary said Bangladesh has lagged 50 years behind in its achievements and development through the killing of Bangabandhu.
"Bangladesh is still not freed from the conspiracy. If Bangabandhu had not been lost, Bangladesh would have been established and known as a developed and prosperous country now," he added.
