Man 'commits suicide' after 'killing wife'

A man has reportedly committed suicide after allegedly killing his wife in Kaunia upazila of Rangpur.

The deceased were identified as Rabindra Chandra Borman, 55, a resident of Mirbag Dharmeshwar Driverpara in the upazila, and his wife Shova Rani Roy, 45. 

The incident took place in Mirbag Dharmeshwar Driverpara on Saturday morning.

Locals said Rabindra and his wife quarreled around 1 am over a family matter and at one stage, he hacked her mercilessly, leaving her critically injured.

Later, she was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Meanwhile, Rabindra was found hanging at their cowhouse and it is believed that he might have committed suicide.

Being informed that a woman was hacked to death by her husband, police went to the spot and at one stage of searching Rabindra, they recovered his hanging body from their cowhouse, Additional Superintendent of Rangpur Police (Circle-A) Hossain Muhammad Raihan told Jago News.

It was learned that Rabindra was mentally sick but the body was sent to hospital morgue as some doubts appeared, he added.
