A court in Mymensingh has awarded six people death penalty and two others life-term imprisonment in the murder case of Freedom Fighter Abdul Matin Master in Trishal upazila.
The condemned convicts are Mobarak Member, Tofazzal Hossain, Rubel Mia, Selim, Shohag and Idris Ali, residents of Trishal, while the lifers are Mofazzal Hossain Rubel and Dulal Mia.
Second Additional District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Sabrina Ali handed down the verdict on Thursday, the court's public prosecutor Pijush Kanti Sarker told Jago News.
According to the case statement, Freedom Fighter Abdul Matin Master, a resident of Khagatipara Jamtali village in the upazila, was murdered on July 3 of 2018.
Later, his son Mahmudul Hasan Mamun filed a case with Trishal Police Station in this connection.
