Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has cancelled its today’s rally in Dhaka after failing to secure permission from the police.
Jamaat’s Dhaka city south unit Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul confirmed the matter at a press conference on Tuesday noon.
The party will hold a rally in the capital on August 4, he said.
Earlier, the party said it will hold its planned rally in the capital on August 1 despite failing to secure police permission for the event.
On July 24, Jamaat announced that it would hold a rally at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque to press home its three-point demand including holding the next national election under a caretaker government.
A Jamaat delegation on July 25 visited DMP headquarters and submitted an application for permission for holding the rally.
