Awami League-backed candidate Sajjadul Hasan has been elected uncontested in the by-election to Netrokona-4 constituency.
Returning officer and Mymensingh regional election officer Mohammd Belayet Hossain Chowdhury announced the unofficial result on Monday afternoon, the last day of withdrawing candidacy, as there was no other candidate in the race.
Sajjadul is a member of the information and research affairs sub-committee of the Awami League central committee and former Senior Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office.
His father late Akhlakul Hossain Ahmed was a companion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The by-polls for the Netrokona-4 parliamentary seat, which fell vacant following the death of its previous incumbent, Rebecca Momin, was scheduled to be held on September 2.
