A court in Dhaka has placed two accused in the case over the attack on Dhaka-17 by-polls independent candidate Ashraful Hossain Alam, popularly known as Hero Alam, on a two-day remand.
The two accused are Sanwar Kazi, 28, and Biplob Hossain, 31.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arafatul Rakib passed the order on Tuesday after police had produced them before the court, seeking a seven-day remand.
Earlier today, Hero Alam's personal assistant Sujan Rahman Shuvo filed the case with Banani Police Station.
The plaintiff alleged in the case statement said 15 to 20 unknown people stopped Hero Alam and his men and scolded them while visiting a polling center during Dhaka-17 by-polls on Monday afternoon.
At one stage, they started punching him. They also tried to strangulate him and kicked his abdomen aiming to kill him.
Later, he was taken to Better Life Hospital in the capital’s Rampura.
