The six-member Election Exploratory Mission from European Union (EU) held a meeting with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Saturday morning.
The meeting began at 9am at the BNP chairperson’s political office in Gulshan and ended around 10:30am.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, party chairperson’s adviser Ismail Jabiullah, Organising Secretary Shama Obaed and Human Rights Affairs Secretary Advocate Asaduzzaman Asad were present during this time.
The EU team is also scheduled to hold meetings with Jatiya Party, ruling Awami League, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and AB Party today.
The six-member delegation, led by Riccardo Chelleri, reached Dhaka on a 16-day visit on July 9 to discuss the election environment and pre-election political situation in Bangladesh.
Based on the report of the visiting EU delegation, the European Commission will announce the final decision regarding sending election observers in the next parliamentary election.
