A court in Cumilla has sentenced three people to death for killing their father in Manoharganj upazila of Cumilla.
Judge Rozina Khan of Additional District and Session Judge Court-3 handed down the verdict on Tuesday afternoon.
The condemned convicts are Fayez Ullah, Ohid Ullah and Shahid Ullah, son of victim Abdul Karim, a resident of Kandi area in the upazila. They all are on the run.
The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each, assistant public prosecutor (APP) Nurul Islam confirmed to Jago News.
Court sources said Abdul Karim had three wives and the accused were sons of his first wife.
They had been at loggerheads with the children of their father's third wife over land.
On August 26 of 2013, they beat up Abdul Karim to death over the land dispute.
Later, his third wife Safia Begum lodged a case against eight people, including the trio, with Manoharganj Police Station in this connection.
