5 killed as bus collides with easy-bike in Sylhet

Five people were killed and at least fifteen others injured when a bus collided with a battery-run easy-bike in Sylhet on Friday night.

The accident took place at Sylhet-Tamabil highway in front of Palli Bidyut office at Darbasta union in Jaintiapur upazila at 10:30pm. 

The deceased were identified as Nur Uddin, 55, son of Mozammel Ali of Sreekhel village, Abdul Latif, 50, son of Abdul Bari of Bargati village, Md Kamal, 25, son of Tariqul Islam of Forfora village, Musad Ali, 50, son of late Khurshed Alam of Borkhola village and Abdul Motin alias Kachai, 45, son of late Abdus Shukkhur of Dighipar village of the upazila.

Darbasta Union Parishad Chairman Baharul Alam confirmed the matter to Jago News.

According to local source, a bus was on its way to Jaflong from Sylhet when it collided with an easy-bike coming from opposite direction, leaving five people dead on the spot and injured at least fifteen others.

On information, members of police and fire service rushed to the spot and sent the victims to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Shyamal Banik, Inspector and Assistant Media Officer of Sylhet District Officer, said being informed, a team of police rushed to the spot. Five people were reported dead in the accident.
