Five killed in Ukhiya Rohingya camp shooting

Five people were killed and several others injured in a shooting between two groups in a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar on Friday morning.

The incident took place in the area adjacent to Block-B-17-18 of Balukhali Rohingya Camp-8 East around 6 am, Ukhiya Police Station officer in-charge Sheikh Mohammad Ali.

Among the deceased, four were identified as Anwar Hossain, 24, a resident of Block H-49, Mohammad Hamim, 16, of Block A-21, and Nurul Amin, 24, of Block B-17 under Camp-8 West and Md Nazimullah of Block H-42 of Camp-10.

Being informed about a shooting between two groups of Rohingyas, police went to the spot and recovered three bodies and sent several injured to a hospital where two others died, said Armed Police Battalion-8 (APBn) commanding officer Amir Zafar.
