The operating hours of Dhaka metro rail are being extended by half an hour to 8:30 pm from July 8 for the convenience of passengers.
The new schedule was announced on the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) website on Tuesday in a notification signed by Road Transport and Highways Department Deputy Secretary Tarafdar Mahmudur Rahman.
However, initially only MRT pass or Rapid Pass holders will get this facility, authorities said.
According to the notification, two trains will start their journey from Agargaon station and will stop at each station to reach Uttara North metro station at 8:15pm and 8:30pm, respectively. Single-trip tickets cannot be used on these two trains.
Currently, the metro rail is running from 8am-8pm. The service is closed for Friday.
