RFL Houseware organizes program in schools on waste management

RFL Houseware, a popular household brand of RFL Group, is working to create awareness among the students on waste management and providing separate bins for compostable and non-compostable waste in educational institutions.

The brand has distributed bins and arranged awareness programs to the schools of various areas of the capital Dhaka, including Dhanmondi, Shahbagh, Lalbagh, Jatrabari, Uttara, and Banani, under its waste management campaign ‘Bins of Change’.

RFL houseware recently handed over separate bins in 20 educational institutions including, Viqarunnisa Noon School and College and Banani Bidyaniketan School & College, for keeping compostable and non-compostable waste.

Esfaquel Hoque, Head of Marketing at RFL Houseware, said, “Most of the daily waste contains both biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. As a result, The separation of these wastes into the next life cycle is time-consuming and expensive as well as waste management is not feasible in most cases. Biodegradable waste at some point enters into the soil, but non-biodegradable waste pollutes the environment.

He also said, “RFL houseware has taken the initiative to raise awareness among the people by separating compostable and non-compostable waste. Now, we are emphasizing to create awareness among the students.”

Shafiq Shahin, Brand Manager at RFL Houseware, said, “We are proving separate bins in the schools and highlighting the necessity of the separation of waste. We have a plan to provide bins in hundred educational institutions this year.”

RFL houseware launched ‘Bins of Change’ campaign in 2022 to raise awareness among the people on waste management. Under the campaign, the brand is providing bins at various places including streets, shopping malls and educational institutions.
