3 killed as auto-rickshaw collides with Bhatbhati in Bogura

Three people were killed and two others injured when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a locally made vehicle called Bhatbhati on Naogaon-Bogura highway at Erulia Mondolpara in the Sadar upazila of Bogura on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Aminur Islam Tota, 54, Asha Moni, 7 and her sister Khadiza, 2.

The children’s parents Rashed Sheikh and Josna Begum were also injured. They are the inhabitants of Bibipukura area in Kahaloo upazila of the district. 

Imtiaz Ahmmed, Sub Inspector of Bogura Sadar Police Station, said a Bogura-bound auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a fish-laden Bhatbhati around 6:45pm, leaving the driver dead on the spot and four members of a family injured. The injured were taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where two children died.

The SI said Rashed along with his family was going to Gaibandha’s Bonarpara to attend a namaz-e-janaza. The killer Bhatbhati was seized but its driver managed to flee the scene. Legal action will be taken in this regard.
