Seven people were killed and several others injured as a cylinder of an ambulance exploded in Faridpur on Saturday.
The accident took place at Maligram area in Azimnagar union of Bhanga upazila around 11pm.
Khalid Mahmud, Sub Inspector of Bhanga Police Station, said a Bhanga-bound ambulance from Dhaka lost control and hit a road divider in the area. Later, the vehicle caught fire and exploded, leaving seven people dead on the spot.
On information, members of police and fire service rushed to the spot and recovered the critically injured driver and sent him to the hospital.
Md Zafar, an officer of Bhanga Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the passengers of the ambulance were charred to death in the fire.
