Suspended UP chairman Babu confesses to journo murder

Mahmudul Alam Babu, suspended chairman of Sadhurpara union parishad (UP) at Bakshiganj upazila in Jamalpur, has confessed to his involvement in the murder of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadeem in court.

The plaintiff’s lawyer, advocate Yusuf Ali, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Friday evening.

Babu, also the suspended general secretary of the union Awami League, was produced before the court of Jamalpur Judicial Magistrate Hasib Ullah Pias after five days of remand and made the confessional statement.

The magistrate recorded his statement under section 164.

Jamalpur DB police Inspector Arman Ali said the court ordered to send him to the jail after he confessed to his involvement in the murder of the journalist.

Journalist Nadeem, Jamalpur district correspondent of online news portal Banglanews24.com, died on June 14, a day after he was injured in an attack by miscreants.

His wife Monira Begum alleged that the men of Sadhurpara UP chairman Babu carried out the attack on him over publishing news.
